Corsola (Japanese: サニーゴ Sunnygo) is a dual-type Water/Rock Pokémon introduced in Generation Ii.

It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.

In Galar, Corsola has a Ghost-type regional form. It evolves into Cursola starting at level 38.

Biology

Corsola is a small, pink, roundish Pokémon with branch-like growths on its back, which are similar to coral. There is a smaller, blunt horn on its forehead, and it has black, oval eyes. Information technology has a white underside, which speckles towards the sides. Its 4 legs and 2 arms are edgeless and stubby.

Found in the warm shallow waters of southern seas, Corsola requires clean h2o to live. If its habitat is dirty, the growths on its back go discolored and degenerate. However, when it is healthy, its growths regularly shed and grow back; it is able to regrow them over the course of a single nighttime. Information technology forms big social groups. Occasionally, these groups go then big that people may alive atop them, as is the example in Pacifidlog Town. Corsola'south horn is a prized material, commonly used for jewelry and carving, as seen in the anime. Smaller Pokémon like Horsea and Luvdisc are sometimes sheltered by Corsola'south branches, and even offering it protection from foes.

In the Alola region, Mareanie and Toxapex are natural predators of Corsola, preying on its branches. If pursued by them, Corsola will sometimes snap its own branches off as a diversion. Conversely, Mareanie and Toxapex practise non prey on Corsola in the Galar region, having non developed a gustation for its branches.

Galarian Corsola were wiped out by sudden changes in the climate and ocean temperature, turning them into Ghost-types. Its body is a bleached white with half-airtight pink eyes and a perpetual pout, and its arms and branches have a distinctly semitransparent advent to them; the branches tin can be used to take root inside and drain the life force of others. Their branches cannot cause injuries or pain, but they immobilize the victim until Galarian Corsola lets them go. They are usually found in the remains of prehistoric seas, and while they can be mistaken for ordinary rocks, they will curse anybody who kicks them by accident.[1]

Galarian Corsola consumes spirit free energy from the life forcefulness its absorbs. This diet eventually causes Corsola's vanquish to break, its body to get incorporeal and its spirit free energy to cascade out, thus completing its evolution into Cursola.[2]

Trivia

  • Corsola can be seen equally a parallel to Farfetch'd in Pokémon Sword and Shield. Both of their original region'southward forms do not evolve, and they have mono-typed regional forms which can evolve in one case. Allister in Pokémon Shield uses Galarian Corsola's evolution, Cursola, in his team while Bea in Pokémon Sword uses Galarian Farfetch'd's development, Sirfetch'd, in her team at the Stow-on-Side Stadium and during the Champion Cup Finals.
  • Corsola is the but Generation 2 Pokémon in the H2o three Egg Group.
  • Galarian Corsola and its evolution are the but Ghost-type Pokémon in both Water 1 and Water 3 Egg Groups.

Origin

Corsola appears to be based on coral, peradventure precious coral, which is used as a precious rock.

Galarian Corsola appears to be based on bleached coral, a phenomenon in which coral expels the algae that give it colour, primarily because of ascension water temperatures as a result of climate change.

Name origin

Corsola may be a combination of coral and sole (a slice of coral) or solar.

Sunnygo may be a combination of sunny and 珊瑚 sango (coral).
